Energy Saving Tips
The following methods are a few simple steps for you to implement within your homes to help decrease a home’s energy consumption:

  1. Caulk and seal around windowsEnergy Scale
  2. Position weather strip around doors
  3. Change air filters monthly
  4. Replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs
  5. Attic insulation of R-30 or better (or higher depending on geographic
    location)
  6. Look for the ENERGY STAR® label when replacing large or small
    appliances
  7. Use power strips for home electronics and turn off power strips when
    equipment is not in use
  8. Turn off lights, televisions and other appliances when not in use
  9. Run your dishwasher and clothes washer only when full
  10. Install an insulation blanket on your water heater to reduce stand-by heat
    loss
  11. Insulate the hot and cold water pipes at the water heater (minimum of 6 feet each)
  12. Lower your water heater temperature to 120 degrees F.
  13. Have your HVAC equipment professionally serviced annually
  14. Have a professional conduct an energy audit
